“We had a good mix of cultural highlights and stunning nature experiences on our tour. The trip was well organised and the hotels were mostly very good. Our guide Ajith accompanied us for 2 weeks and was always cheerful, reliable and attentive. With great expertise, he told us a lot about the history of his country and the current everyday life of the people. As a result, we got to know many facets of this very beautiful country and its friendly people. It was a very enjoyable trip with Ajith.”
“Our trip was perfectly organized from start to finish. Our guide Sam was incredibly trustworthy, friendly and very attentive. Travelling with him was so relaxing – we could just sit back and enjoy the ride without any worries. The agency contacted us at the beginning to make sure everything went smoothly and they made it clear that we could contact them at any time. But that was not necessary – everything went like clockwork! Sam presented his country with so much pride and joy. Coming out of the hotel every morning and being greeted by his cheerful and positive charisma was a highlight of our trip. We would do it again anytime!”

“Sri Lanka is a wonderful country, the people are open and friendly, especially our driver Sanka. He is very nice and communicative, speaks very good German and drives safely. He is very flexible, explained a lot to us and was also interested in cultural exchange. The accommodations were all very good. The whole organization was very good!”
“Our guide Sanka De Silva gave us both, my boyfriend and I, a wonderful week. The view from the Lion Rock in Sigiriya was wonderful and we were particularly impressed by the excavations in Polonnaruwa. Sanka was always there for us and explained things, answered our questions and gave us additional insights into the country, for example we ate the best samosas at a small street vending. Wonderful!”

“It was so varied, lots of nature, plants and wildlife to marvel at, great safaris. Hortin plains top. Knuggels flop, doesn't need a guide. Great accommodation except forest 360, not pleasant as a woman alone.”

“We have travelled around Sri Lanka for 10 Days with our guide Sumith who was extremely knowledgeable, always smiling and willing to help. We would highly recommend him as your guide. Through him we gained a deep understanding of Sri Lankan life and culture. Starting with Colombo, a walk around the streets with an experienced guide is a must for first time visitors Then a visit to Anuradhapura to see the Ancient Kingdom and to top it off spent the night at Lake Forest Hotel where we looked back over the Ancient Kingdom, a stunning view at night. We saw many beautiful sites. We stayed in some brilliant hotels 98 acres, Leopard trails to name a few and nothing disappointed. Sri Lanka is truly beautiful and using a qualified guide is a must”

“I did a tour organised by a company based in Melbourne Australia. There were a few issues from them but everything on the ground in Sri Lanka was perfect thanks to Detroves. In particular, my guide and driver was an absolute gem. It was just him and me for the eight days and Anas was thoroughly professional from start to finish. He is attentive to one's needs and a wonderful communicator. Anas is a most experienced practitioner who is well connected and knowledgeable about his country and Sri Lankan history, places and customs. He showed me a great time - for him ... five stars!”

“Just got back from a great trip in Sri Lanka. We went for 14 days and saw all the main sights, but the highlight for us was probably climbing Sigiriya at sunrise. Our guide and driver Ajith picked us up at the airport and was with us the entire time, always explaining the local history and customs as we travelling, giving useful recommendations, making sure we didn't go hungry and of course getting us from A to B. Would highly recommend both the company and travelling to Sri Lanka in general. For our particular tour we found it to be a great combination of culture, adventure, nature and relaxation and would happily go back. Also, I do recommend this kind of private tour, it's much more flexible and comfortable than a group tour, while still being reasonably affordable.”

“To get a first impression of the island, we booked the Sri Lanka Tour Standard for 2 people with Detroves and were delighted with what we saw and the service. We were particularly impressed by the attentiveness, flexibility and knowledge of our driver and guide Karu. The hotels selected by the tour operator met our expectations. The services were very good and we would book a tour through Detroves again.”
