Upon your arrival at the airport, you will receive a warm welcome and meet your driver/guide in the arrivals lobby. You will then transfer to your hotel, located approximately 40 km away, with a journey time of around 45 minutes. After arriving, you may check in and get comfortable. Kindly note that the standard check-in time is 2:00 PM (14:00). Take this time to relax and get ready to enjoy your stay.

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Sigiriya (165 km/4 hours 30 minutes) to explore the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This awe-inspiring 5th-century citadel, once the refuge of King Kasyapa, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit, lasting approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, offers a chance to marvel at its remarkable features, including the water gardens, boulder garden, mirror wall, frescoes, lion’s paw, and the summit. Discover the rich history and breathtaking views of this majestic “Citadel in the Sky.

After breakfast, depart for the ancient city of Polonnaruwa (57 km / approximately 1.5 hours), the second-oldest kingdom of Sri Lanka. Spend around 2 to 2.5 hours discovering its remarkable ruins and sacred landmarks. Key highlights include the Gal Viharaya (Stone Temple), Lankathilaka, Tivanka Image House, Nissanka Latha Mandapaya, the Audience Hall, and the Vatadage. This fascinating visit offers insight into a glorious chapter of the island’s history. Later, return to Sigiriya (57 km / 1.5 hours) and relax for the remainder of the day.

After breakfast, travel to Kandy (90 km / approximately 3 hours), with a stop en route at the Dambulla Cave Temple. Dambulla Golden Cave Temple (1–1.5 hours): A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this remarkable temple complex sits atop a towering rock rising over 160 meters. Explore its renowned caves, including the Deva Raja Viharaya (Cave of the Gods), Maha Raja Viharaya (Cave of the Great Kings), and Maha Alut Viharaya (Great New Temple). Please note that the climb to the temple involves a moderate uphill walk. After the visit, continue to Kandy for a city tour (1.5–2 hours). After breakfast, journey to Nuwara Eliya (80 km / approximately 3 hours), with stops at the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and a tea factory and plantation along the way. Royal Botanical Gardens (1.5–2 hours): Originally established as a royal garden in 1371 by King Wickramabahu III, the gardens later flourished under King Kirti Sri Rajasinghe. Stroll through beautifully landscaped grounds and discover an impressive collection of plants, including cacti, herbal gardens, tropical flora, and rare exotic species. In the afternoon, enjoy a short city tour of Nuwara Eliya (approximately 40 minutes), often referred to as “Little England.” Highlights include the historic brick post office, the Grand Hotel, the English church, Gregory Lake, and the racecourse, all reflecting the town’s charming colonial heritage.

After breakfast, proceed to Nanu Oya Railway Station to board the 9:20 AM train to Ella, arriving at approximately 12:30 PM. The Scenic Train Journey from Nanu Oya to Ella Renowned as one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, this 25-kilometer (15.5-mile) journey travels through Sri Lanka’s breathtaking hill country. Along the way, admire sweeping tea plantations, mist-covered valleys, tumbling waterfalls, and lush green forests. As the train gently winds through the mountains, the peaceful scenery creates a truly memorable and enchanting travel experience.

After encountering remarkable animals in their natural habitat, continue your journey to Galle for an engaging city tour. Discover the historic fort and enjoy its charming coastal atmosphere.
